V.I.P. Antiques Weekend in New York

Join the Decorative Arts Trust for the most exciting New York weekend of the year, V.I.P. Weekend at The 2012 Winter Antiques Show, The Seventh Regiment Armory, Park Avenue & 67th Street, New York. This year’s loan exhibit is "Celebrating Historic Hudson Valley at Sixty: Rockefeller Patronage in Sleepy Hollow Country"

Sign-up for: Either Friday (opening day) or Saturday, January 20 or 21, (take your pick) to meet at 10:45 a.m. for early entrance to the dazzling Winter Antiques Show (Public not admitted until 12 noon), with a special Dealer's Tour and show catalogue. Afterwards enjoy a private V.I.P. lunch in the historic Stanford White/Tiffany Room of the Armory.

AND: Friday afternoon at 2:00 Trust members will have the ultimate, blue ribbon Duncan Phyfe experience. Newly opened at the Metropolitan Museum will be the blockbuster exhibit, Duncan Phyfe, Master Cabinetmaker in New York. Trust members will enjoy a private lecture with renowned Met Curator of American Decorative Arts, Peter Kenny, and afterwards proceed with him though the exhibit. Nearly one hundred Phyfe works from private and public collections throughout the United States will be shown. Highlights of the exhibit include some never-before-seen documented masterpieces and furniture descended directly in the Phyfe family. This is a once in a lifetime experience.

AND: On Saturday afternoon at 3:00 Trust members are invited to visit the Park Avenue home of renowned Olympic figure skating champion, Dick Button, a former Governor of our Board. He was the first American to win an Olympic ice skating title and the only American to win two Olympic gold medals in figure skating. Many say that Dick Button is the greatest figure skater in history. He is now figure skating’s best known television analyst. And, by the way, he is a graduate of Harvard Law School. But more important to Trust members, he is a great collector of early 19th century American fine and decorative arts. This will be a perfect visit to follow the Duncan Phyfe exhibit. Come have a glass of wine with Dick Button and hear about his collection. Trust Governor Margize Howell will be there to greet you.

Your V.I.P. schedule, with addresses of our appointments, will be sent with your confirmation. Transportation is not included, just meet us at each event. And, of course, there will be Trust Governors at each site to introduce you to your hosts. The rest of the weekend is on your own to go to auctions, museum exhibits, antiques shows. The now famous Decorative Arts Trust Guide to the Antiques Weekend in New York City lists all these and will also be sent with your confirmation.
