January 22 and 23, 2010.

Join The Decorative Art Trust Board of Governors for the most exciting New York Weekend of the year, V.I.P. Weekend at The 2010 Winter Antiques Show (The Seventh Regiment Armory, Park Avenue & 67th Street, New York). The loan exhibit is "Colonial to Modern: A Century of Collecting at Historic New England."

In addition, we are very pleased to invite Trust members to an exclusive viewing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with Nicholas Vincent, former Decorative Arts Trust Scholar and now part of the Met’s American Department, and his research colleagues, Medill Higgins Harvey and Adrienne Spinozzi, who will guide us through the new American Wing at the Met, just reopened in May 2009 after two years of construction and renovations (see the Trust Newsletter, Spring issue, cover story, and The Magazine Antiques, May 2009, cover story). We’ll be introduced to new collections, new architecture and, a chronological walk through period rooms from 1680 to 1810. We will also see the exhibit, "American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765-1915. From the Colonial Period through World War I", 100 iconic American paintings of our most celebrated artists showing the richness of America.

Trust members will visit special Manhattan collections on Saturday afternoon. And, enjoy an optional Friday evening dinner at the exclusive Colony Club.

What is included:

Participants will choose either Friday or Saturday, January 22 or 23, to meet at 10:50 a.m. for early entrance to the Winter Antiques Show (Public not admitted until 12 noon), with a special Dealer's Tour and the Show Catalogue. Afterwards enjoy a delicious V.I.P. Lunch in the Stanford White/Tiffany Room at the Armory.

All members signing up for V.I.P. are invited on Friday afternoon at two o’clock, to The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a special tour of the new American Wing, newly opened in May of 2009 after being closed for two years. We’ll also enjoy the much talked about (raves!) paintings exhibit, American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765-1915.

Also, all Trust members who register for V.I.P. are invited to special Manhattan collections on Saturday afternoon. Upon registering for V.I.P., you will receive your personal schedule for the weekend events which will give you the names and addresses for these collections.

We are offering again this year the lovely Friday evening dinner at the exclusive Colony Club on Park Avenue. Trust Vice President, Mary Jane Pool, will again be our sponsor and host for the evening.

Your V.I.P. schedule, with addresses for each event and telephone numbers, will be sent with your V.I.P. confirmation. Transportation is not included, just meet us at each event. And, of course, there will be Trust Governors at each site to introduce you to your hosts. The rest of the weekend is on your own to go to auctions, museum exhibits, antiques shows. The now famous Decorative Arts Trust Guide to the Antiques Weekend lists all these and will be sent with your confirmation. The Guide makes it easy to find the Museum exhibits, antiques shows and auctions you’d like to see.
